april neate

April creates jewellery on the theme of the house.  Her work is about security and comfort, exploration and adventure.

April is interested in architecture and fascinated particularly by doorways and windows; the apertures that lead us to what is inside. As a child she loved going on trips to castles and old houses, searching for hidden passages and climbing spiral staircases.

Working mainly in silver, April uses presswork techniques to create hollow pieces, sawpiercing the doors and windows out by hand.  She also uses photoetching to 'draw' on the surface of the metal.
